Shadows cross and disappear
through rows and rows of names on stones
Footsteps quicken and die away
Past names forgotten and unknown
The night sends its sound throughout
A rusty gate closes afar
The sounds of footsteps pass and fade
beneath the midnight star
Silence spreads no sound to hear
Her hand reaches toward the mark
To place upon the grave a flower
barely seen within the dark
To place upon the grave a flower
barely seen within the dark
And I’m fading in the moonlight
from the ashes, grief, a mourn so dark
And I will fly, fly, I will fly so high
on the eagles wings, towards my home
And I will fly, fly, I will fly so high
on the eagles wings, towards my home
And I will fly, fly, I will fly so high
on the eagles wings, towards my home
And I’m fading in the moonlight
from the ashes, grief, a mourn so dark
A rusty gate shuts afar
Sounds of footsteps fade and dim
A silent tear upon a cheek
Remembrance of what might have been
A silent tear upon a cheek
Remembrance of what might have been
I never cared about symphonic metal at all. I do very much care about folk as well as progressive metal, and so I couldn't resist after reading the third exceptional AMG review for Wilderun in a row. 'Sleep...' has been on my radar for quite some time, being graced by one of the most beckoning cover arts I have ever seen. The band more than lives up to its reputation, composing great musical pieces from start to finish. I absolutely love the multitude of influences being put together here. David Fischer
